How much does a Walk-In-Shower remodel cost in King and Snohomish County?

In 2022, we assembled a list of quotes for a walk-in-shower remodel from contractors for a similarly scoped project. We anticipate this will help you save some time (and some awkward sales pitches) as you proceed down the research phase of choosing the right contractor for your upcoming walk-in-shower remodeling project.

Summary

Sanctuary Bath's price is consistently 20-30% less than our peers in King and Snohomish County despite the fact that we use high-quality stone composite wall surface material.

We know that price is an important factor when choosing whether to proceed with a walk-in-shower or bathroom remodeling project. But don't just take our research as gospel truth. We recommend our potential customers to gather multiple quotes from at least three contractors before they move forward on their project. We want you to be confident that you'll make the right choice for your remodel project when you choose Sanctuary Bath for your next project.

Our methodology

We gathered data in one of two ways:

  • Contractors provided estimates at a property for a project containing a bathroom with an all-in-one acrylic bath/shower combination to replace with their product.
  • Customers provided us quotes they have received from competitors at the point of sale in their home.

We controlled for variables like varying dimensions and other upgrades by only including lowest-tier pricing (no upgrades like grab bars, fancy shower-heads, or other major plumbing work).

What was the type of remodel for these quotes?

The scope of remodel for these quotes was to replace an existing bathtub/shower (all-in-one contractor-grade shower) with the baseline version of what the contractor had to offer. Except for one contractor, these quotes are full demo/replacement projects.

How to interpret our results

Where we have ranges in the estimates, we received varying prices for similarly scoped projects. Promotions throughout the year affect pricing for comparable projects as contractors experiment with different marketing and sales-promotion strategies.

Confounding factors

It's also important to note that the vast majority of the competitors choose to not provide a line-by-line breakdown of in their estimates. Further complicating analysis, the majority of salespeople that provided quotes in-person went to great lengths to conceal their quoting process during the sales pitch (adding screen protectors, trying to distract from the details of the quoting process, or completely heading outside to assemble their quote). We are under the impression that there is a fair degree of variability in quotes price based on the subjective in-home sales presentation and how much pricing latitude a given salesperson has. The interactions between the salesperson and the customer may be an influence on the quoted price.

Clarifying terminology

  • Stone Composite: Manufactured material primarily comprised of stone with plastics and/or epoxy resins compressed and embedded into the material to ensure non-porosity. This is a very durable material with a long life.
  • Plastic Composite: Blends of Plastics, Acrylics, or other chemically engineered materials; typical for standard contractor-grade installations.
  • Plastic Sleeve: A formed plastic shell that is glued in place over a failing bathtub. Prone to mold and mildew accumulation between the original bathtub surface and the sleeve material due to capillary action or dynamic force-induced separation of the bonded materials.
